Niagara shows coordinated vaccination progress on one-year anniversary of COVID-19 pandemic

Niagara continues to work together to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to as many residents as possible, as quickly as possible. At its March 11 meeting, also the one-year anniversary of the pandemic, Niagara’s Community Coordination Task Force for COVID-19 Vaccination took note of the significant progress that has already been made by its member organizations in vaccinating many of Niagara’s most at-risk residents.

As we reflect on the anniversary of the first case of COVID-19 in Niagara, we acknowledge both our community’s journey, and what still lies ahead.  

We recognize those who have lost their lives as a result of this pandemic. At present, COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 369 residents, leaving a lasting impact on their families, friends and caregivers alike. Preparation for COVID-19 Immunizations for Residents 80+

Niagara Region Public Health is busy preparing for the launch of our COVID-19 mass immunization clinics in the coming weeks.

Last week the 11 clinic locations were announced, and Public Health continues to work with these community partners to be ready once vaccine supply is available. The clinics will open and operate on a rotating basis, and will increase in frequency over the next few weeks as Public Health staff and volunteers work to get vaccines into the arms of Niagara’s 80+ residents as quickly...

Free beach passes for Port Colborne residents this summer

As the City of Port Colborne continues to navigate the changing landscape of the COVID-19 pandemic, City Council voted at Monday night’s meeting to move forward with a new strategic plan for beach operations, which includes implementing free beach passes for Port Colborne residents this summer.  

For the 2021 season, Nickel Beach will be open to both Port Colborne residents and non-residents, while Centennial-Cedar Bay Beach will accommodate Niagara residents only. This decision was approved...

Bridge Closure - March 10

Bridge 21, the Clarence Street Bridge, will be closed to all traffic on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. The community bus travelling across the canal will be offered at no cost to passengers during this time. The bridge will remain open to pedestrians.
