Niagara Region Public Health has received a number of reports of a phone scam in the area about the COVID-19 vaccine. Please note that we are not calling residents to schedule vaccine appointments at this time, and will never ask for payment for COVID-19 immunization. If you receive a call like this, please hang up immediately and do not provide any personal information such as your health card or credit card number.

Port Colborne residents are reminded to take necessary steps to keep unwanted visitors like skunks, coyotes, racoons, foxes, and rats away their property this winter.

With colder temperatures finally arriving in Port Colborne, various animals and rodents are on the lookout for food supplies and a place to call home for these chillier months. The City’s Community Safety & Enforcement Division is asking residents to be mindful of this and do their part to keep their property clean.

Port Colborne residents are reminded to take steps to prevent frozen pipes as temperatures drop below zero. The City has already received phone calls from residents who are experiencing frozen plumbing and expect that many more properties could be affected over the next few days.

To avoid frozen water pipes in your home, consider the following:

  • Open kitchen, bathroom, and laundry cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate around plumbing
