Free beach passes for Port Colborne residents this summer

As the City of Port Colborne continues to navigate the changing landscape of the COVID-19 pandemic, City Council voted at Monday night’s meeting to move forward with a new strategic plan for beach operations, which includes implementing free beach passes for Port Colborne residents this summer.  

For the 2021 season, Nickel Beach will be open to both Port Colborne residents and non-residents, while Centennial-Cedar Bay Beach will accommodate Niagara residents only. This decision was approved...

Bridge Closure - March 10

Bridge 21, the Clarence Street Bridge, will be closed to all traffic on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. The community bus travelling across the canal will be offered at no cost to passengers during this time. The bridge will remain open to pedestrians.

Niagara Health to begin vaccinating hospital patients 80 years and older against COVID-19

In the coming days, Niagara Health will begin booking appointments to vaccinate patients who are 80 years of age and older and are currently admitted to a hospital bed or have been admitted and stayed overnight in the last six months. This will include patients at all sites of Niagara Health and at Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre.

Free Food Giveaway Saturday, March 6

This Saturday, March 6 at 1 p.m., Bethel United Church is hosting a free food giveaway on Princess Street between Catharine Street and King Street. 

Princess Street is one way, and vehicles must enter from Catharine Street.

Bethel United Church has partnered with Forks Road United Church in Wainfleet and the City of Port Colborne to host this event. 

People must stay in their vehicles, and all volunteers will be wearing masks and practicing physical distancing.

Pleasant Beach entrance closed March 4 – 12, 2021

Starting Thursday, March 4, 2021, until approximately Friday, March 12, 2021, the Pleasant Beach Road beach entrance will be closed. Rankin Construction will be moving equipment from the end of Pleasant Beach Road to complete shoreline protection work on a neighbouring property to the east of the beach.

Signs will be posted, and residents are encouraged to avoid the beach entrance until Rankin Construction has completed this project.
