Fire and flow testing 2024

Please be advised that the City’s Public Works Water/Wastewater Division will be completing City Wide fire flow and C-factor testing between August 6 and August 22. The purpose of this program is to collect information and data that will feed into the City’s Water Servicing Masterplan scheduled to commence in the fall of 2024.

The 46th annual Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival, presented by GIO Rail, will return to Port Colborne this weekend, with four days of fun for the whole family.

Killaly Street East Microsurfacing starting July 25, 2024

The City is introducing a new method of road preservation known as “microsurfacing”, which adds a new layer of protection to the existing asphalt road to prolong its life and improve safety by increasing friction and therefore traction of the road.

Smoke Testing of the Sanitary Sewer to begin July 29

Beginning on July 29, 2024, GEI Consultants is scheduled to complete smoke testing in the Nickel Area. Smoke testing consists of blowing smoke into the sewers and canvassing the area above ground to document locations where the smoke is observed. The purpose is to find points of storm water cross connections into the sanitary sewers, resulting in higher risk for basement flooding.

City of Port Colborne, St. Lawrence Seaway from Lakeshore Catholic bring art to Main Street Bridge

A collaborative effort between the City of Port Colborne, The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation (SLSMC) and Lakeshore Catholic High School is bringing fresh paint, and art, to the Main Street Bridge (Bridge 19) on the Welland Canal.
Students from the school designed several murals that are hung at the corner of Main Street East and Barber Drive. The murals celebrate the beauty of Port Colborne and the importance of the Welland Canal to the community’s identity and economy.
