During the Mayor’s luncheon at Sugarloaf Marina, Port Colborne’s summer festival line-up and the Canal Days concert series line-up was announced. With the first day of summer just a day away there are a variety of festivals, events, and recreation opportunities occurring in Port Colborne this summer, providing residents and visitors plenty of opportunities to #PORTicipate.

July 29 to Aug. 1 – 44th annual Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival

The Canal Days Concert Series returns to H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park with top-notch entertainment:

Fri., July 29, 2022 – Featuring Walk off the Earth with MAGIC! and MONOWHALES, presented by Tourism Niagara with media partner move 105.7.

Sat., July 30, 2022 – Featuring The Sheepdogs with Gord Sinclair, Derek Miller, and 97.7 HTZ-FM Rock Search Winners, presented by media partner 97.7 HTZ-FM.

Sun., July 31, 2022 – Featuring Classic Albums Live Performs: Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon and Classic Albums Live Performs: The Eagles – Hotel California, with Sleepy Jean, presented by media partner 91.7 Giant-FM.

Mon., Aug. 1, 2022 - Featuring The Caverners, Canada’s Premier Tribute to the Beatles with Tim E. Hendry, the 2013 King of the World Elvis Tribute Artist World Champion, presented by media partners Newstalk 610 CKTB & move 105.7.

The Labatt Patio on West returns to West Street, located between Kent Street and Victoria Street, featuring great Niagara based talent all weekend.

On Fri., July 29, 2022, the Labatt Patio on West kicks off with Robert Alfieri and the Hellbent Rockers.

On Sat., July 30, 2022, beginning at 12 p.m., Country 89 hosts Studio 89 Live, presented by CMA Ontario and RBC Emerging Artist Project, with performances by Olivia Mae Graham, Rosewood Ave, Buck Twenty, and Ryan Langdon. The entertainment continues throughout the evening with performances by Sara Jordan and Matt Von and The Doubts.  

On Sun., July 31, 2022, performers include Mike Lynch and the Old School Country Boys, Katey Gatta, Maeve and Nav, and the Figure Four, with the Boat Parade of Lights, presented by the Sugarloaf Sailing Club, and Fireworks display to close out the evening. 

On Mon., Aug. 1, 2022, Patsy and the Muscle close out the Labatt Patio on West.

Canal Days offers an opportunity to cruise the Empire Sandy, presented by Chamber of Marine Commerce, all weekend long. For more information about tickets call 905-835-2900 x549 or visit www.canaldays.ca.

Festival goers will also be able to explore the decks of the Buffalo, NY fireboat E.M. Cotter, the HMCS Oriole, and, new for 2022, the tugboat Theodore TOO.

Festival favourites return for the 44th annual signature event, including:

  • The Historical & Marine Museum, where Canal Days began in 1979, with FREE admission, sponsored by Lower Lakes Towing Ltd.
  • The Sewell’s NAPA Automotive Annual Classic Car Show, cruising into the T.A. Lannan Sports Complex, 550 Elizabeth Street on Sun., July 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The Indoor Craft Show, hosted by the Port Colborne Optimist Club, returns the Vale Health & Wellness Centre, 550 Elizabeth Street, on Sat., July 30 and Sun., July 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sugarloaf Marina is home to the Lighthouse Tours, presented by HOPA PORTS and Friends of the Port Colborne Lighthouses
  • Kids Zone at Seaway Park
  • On Sun., July 31, a Canal Days tradition returns with the Boat Parade of Lights, presented by the Sugarloaf Sailing Club followed by an exhilarating firework display
  • New Recreation Zone on West Street
  • West Street vendors, and more.

  • Farmer’s Market every Friday at Market Square from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Arabella’s Tea Room open daily until September from 2 to 4 p.m. Enjoy afternoon tea in Edwardian style for $7.
  • Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum Exhibit: A Village by the Canal. Look back to over 150 years ago when Port Colborne was incorporated as a village. This exhibit explores the remarkable history of daily life in a village, and the skills and trades which were characteristic of Port Colborne’s inhabitants in the ear of 1870-1917. Open until December.
  • Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum Exhibit: Judging. Helen Kinnear was called to the bar a century ago, beginning a legal career during which she accomplished several first for women, including becoming the first federally appointed female judge in Canada. Raised in Port Colborne, it was here she first practiced law. This exhibit takes a journey through her remarkable legal career and accomplishments. Open until November.
  • Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum Exhibit: Nigh Agora. Explore our permanent exhibit in the Carriage House on the grounds of the museum. The exhibit showcases artifacts from a country museum on Pinecrest Road, which was created in 1989 by Mildred Nigh, after the discovery of early handcrafted tools, utensils, baskets, and more on their farm in 1972. It celebrates the century farm and the history of the Knisley family. Open until December.   
  • Cruise Nights every Thurs. night in June, July, Aug., and Sept., starting at 5 p.m., presented by the Port Colborne Downtown Cruise Association on Clarence Street between West St. and Catharine Street. 
  • Lighthouse Festival Theatre has returned to the Roselawn Centre with five more performances of the season: Buying the farm; Norm Foster’s Halfway there; Meet my sister; Peter Pan; The Real Sherlock Holmes; and Glory Days. For more information, visit www.lighthousetheatre.com.
  • June 24 - 25 – Budweiser CanAm Walleye Shootout at Sugarloaf Marina. Big Fish Friday on June 24, with the main event on Sat., June 25.
  • July 2 - 10 is Ontario Family Fishing Week. This is a province-wide opportunity for Canadian residents to fish Ontario waters without the otherwise mandatory fishing version outdoors card. This is a great time to introduce friends and family to fishing.
  • July 1 - 3 – Niagara Antique Power Associations 50th Annual Heritage Display at 1957 Wilhelm Road, off Hwy 3 in Sherkston. Join them for a celebration of demonstrating Niagara’s Rural Farming Heritage to the Port Colborne area.
  • July 1 – Canada Day/Optimist Day in the Park

10 a.m. – 6 p.m. H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park. Join the Port Colborne Optimist Club for a FREE family day of fun and entertainment.

Fireworks display at dusk, approximately 10 p.m., at the Canal on West Street, pending Seaway traffic.
Moonlight Flicks – July 20 and Aug. 10 and 24 - Enjoy movies at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park at dusk. Bring your own chairs and blankets.

  • July 21 - 24 – Port Colborne Lions Annual Charity Carnival – Port Colborne Lions Field, 148 Killaly Street West. Great fun for the whole family. All carnival proceeds are used to support youth sport activities, community projects and charitable donations.
  • Port Colborne Concert Band - July 7, 14, and 21 - A summer tradition, performances by the Port Colborne Concert Band under the direction of Brenda Fairchild-Green at 7:20 p.m. (rain or shine) at the Mark Fairchild Memorial Bandstand in H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park. Come early and bring your own chair. Donations accepted.
  • Sat., Aug. 21 we welcome the return of the SunRype TRiKiDS Triathlon Series to the Vale Health & Wellness Centre. For more information, or to register, visit www.trikids.ca.
