Sportsfest 2026 photo

Chilly outdoor temperatures won’t freeze the fun of an action-packed annual tradition in Port Colborne.

SportsFest, presented by CM Steele Insurance and Portage Mutual Insurance, will welcome people from Port Colborne and beyond to take part in events across the city from Friday, Feb. 6 to Sunday, Feb. 8.

Since 1999, SportsFest has been hosted every winter to welcome participants of all ages to a celebration of indoor and outdoor events, with proceeds donated to charitable organizations.

Port Colborne Mayor William Steele said the wide array of activities offer an opportunity for everyone to get involved during the weekend.

“Whether conquering the cold in the softball tournament, the Polar Plunge, and at a free community skate, or staying warm at the family swim, learning lacrosse, or discovering Pilates, I can’t wait to see local businesses and community groups from Port Colborne hosting activities and raising funds for local charities,” he said.

The weekend’s activities will see the City of Port Colborne partnering with various community groups to host a variety of events. They include:

  • The Mayor’s Cup Invitational Hockey Tournament will welcome 16 teams from Friday, Feb. 6 to Sunday, Feb. 8 at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre. For more information, visit the City’s Sportsfest website.
  • The Zuvic Memorial Sno Pitch Tournament presented by Welland Slo-Pitch on Saturday, Feb. 7at the T.A. Lannan Sports Complex from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information or to register, visit the Welland Slo-Pitch website.
  • The Sports Wall of Fame Inductee Ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 7 in the Vale Health and Wellness Centre’s Golden Puck room at 5 p.m. The event will also be livestreamed on the City's Facebook page for those unable to attend.
  • The Port Colborne Polar Plunge in support of Special Olympics Ontario on Sunday, Feb. 8 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park boat launch, 160 Sugarloaf Street. To learn moreregister, or donate, visit the Port Colborne Polar Plunge website.
