Canada Day celebrations

School is officially out for summer and the first long weekend of the summer is here in Port Colborne!

Municipal offices, including City Hall, will be closed Monday, July 3, 2023, to observe Canada Day. Staff will return Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at 8:30 a.m.

Residents requiring our Public Works department can call 905-835-2900 and press ‘9’ to reach the after-hours dispatch. Alternatively, if it is not a public works emergency, residents can submit a service request using our online form at www.portcolborne.ca/requestaservice.

The City of Port Colborne welcomes residents and visitors to join in the events and festivities around the city this Canada Day long weekend. The City of Port Colborne and the Port Colborne Optimist Club have organized activities to embrace the spirit of unity, diversity, and national pride in our community.

Exciting ways to PORTicipate this long weekend:

Community Concert Series – On July 1 as part of our community concert series, we welcome Grace 2 – a Tragically Hip Tribute, with guests X Prime along West Street from 6-10 p.m. Enjoy the live music set against the waterfront in our vibrant and historic downtown area.

Fireworks on West Street – When the concert is finished, stick around, and watch our annual fireworks show right along the Canal. Scheduled for 10 p.m. (pending seaway traffic).

 

H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park Canada Day Celebration – Join us at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park for the highly anticipated Canada Day festivities, organized by the Port Colborne Optimist Club. Be sure to come hungry as Backyard BBQ, Super Mario’s Pizza, and Country Boys will be serving up food for purchase. Additionally, vendors will be selling popcorn and snow cones. Following opening remarks from the Mayor, Canada Day cupcakes will be provided free of charge. Live music and entertainment will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. featuring local artists and acts including Mad Science, Magic by Gil, Ann Singer’s Rising Stars, Niagara Regional Police Band, Highland Dancers, and the Small-Town Kings. Young attendees can look forward to interactive experiences such as birds of prey, alpacas, pony rides, and assorted games can be found during the day in the park. Bands at the Beach – On Monday, July 3, bring your beach chairs and blankets down to Nickel Beach to enjoy the first in our new Bands at the Beach series. Kicking off with an unplugged performance by Street Pharmacy and featuring Exodus – Tribute to Bob Marley. The show begins at 4:30 and wraps up at 8 p.m. Bring your PORTicipate pass to park for free at Nickel Beach.
