Weather Postpones Canal Days Fireworks and Sunday Evening Programming.png

Due to severe weather conditions, the City of Port Colborne has made several changes to Sunday evening Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival programming.

The Downtown Street Festival is now closed for the remainder of Sunday, and tonight's Fireworks and Boat Parade of Lights have been postponed until Monday evening, weather and Seaway traffic permitting.

The fireworks display is now scheduled for Monday, Aug. 3 at 10 p.m., with the Boat Parade of Lights taking place beforehand at 9 p.m.

To allow vendors to safely remove equipment from West Street tomorrow, visitors planning to attend Monday evening's fireworks are asked not to arrive before 7 p.m. Pedestrian access to the downtown festival grounds will be restricted between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. while vendor load-out is underway. Festival staff will be on site to help direct visitors, and everyone is thanked for their patience and cooperation as this work is completed safely.

Empire Sandy will offer a rescheduled fireworks cruise on Monday evening. Guests who purchased tickets for the original Sunday evening fireworks cruise will have priority access to move their tickets to the rescheduled cruise. Refunds are also available. Please emaileventservices@portcolborne.ca

While today's downtown programming has concluded, the City looks forward to welcoming residents and visitors back on Monday for the final day of Canal Days. The remainder of Monday's festival programming will proceed as scheduled, culminating with the postponed Boat Parade of Lights and fireworks display, subject to weather and Seaway traffic.

The City thanks festival attendees, sponsors, volunteers, vendors and community partners for their understanding and continued support as these changes are made with the safety of everyone involved in mind.
