water tap

City of Port Colborne Public Works crews are responding to a watermain break at the intersection of Main St. W and King St.

Repairs to the watermain will begin at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 and are expected to be complete by Thursday, Feb. 16 at approximately 6 a.m. There will be lane restrictions in the area while repairs are ongoing, but access for emergency vehicles will be maintained.

Residents and businesses in the area may experience a disruption in water service.

City staff have notified impacted homeowners and businesses and thank them for their understanding while we complete these infrastructure repairs.

After water service is restored, homeowners may experience discoloured water. It is recommended to run the water from a cold water tap in the basement or other low point in the building. If the water does not return to normal after running the tap for 10-15 minutes, please call Public Works at 905-835-2900. If you’re calling after-hours, please press ‘9’ to reach our dispatch.

Residents near these areas may also experience discoloured water.

Sudden changes in water flow affect the inside of the cast iron pipes in our city (approximately. 30 per cent of our pipes) and this can create discolouration. If you are located near this watermain break and experience discoloured water, please follow the steps above to flush your line.
