The City of Port Colborne has announced that the 2026 Port Colborne Polar Plunge has been postponed due to forecasted extreme cold temperatures and concerns for participant safety.
Originally scheduled for February 8, the event will now take place on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at 1 p.m. at the H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park Boat Ramp.
The annual fundraiser invites residents, businesses, and organizations to brave the icy waters in support of more than 23,000 Special Olympics athletes across Ontario. The decision to reschedule was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for participants, volunteers, and spectators.
All registrations and donations will remain valid for the new date. Participants are encouraged to continue fundraising and recruiting team members ahead of the March plunge.
