Four new FLO Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations are up and running in Port Colborne.

Supported by Port Colborne City Council and the Environmental Advisory Committee, the initiative has resulted in charging stations spread throughout the city, including at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park, in Market Square, in the municipal parking lot at 109 Main Street West, and at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre.

Each station has two charging ports, making space for up to eight electric vehicles to ‘refuel’ at once. They join FLO’s network of more than 140,000 public charging stations.

Mayor William Steele said the new chargers enhance the City’s commitment to the environment and climate change.

The FLO chargers are a great addition to the many green initiatives we have here in Port Colborne, including electrifying many of our own Public Works vehicles,” he said. We look forward to welcoming more EV drivers while we continue to make positive environmental changes in all we do.”

The City’s Environmental Advisory Committee have been long-time advocates of electrification to support sustainability. Committee Chair Amanda Smits said the committee is pleased to see the Citypartner with FLO to expand charging infrastructure in Niagara, support ongoing investment in tourism and underscore Port Colborne’s commitment to sustainability.

“Visitors to Port Colborne and the Niagara region will now have access to state-of-the-art charging technology through Canada’s largest EV charging network,” said Smits. “We are excited for folks to extend their trips and spend more time exploring everything Port Colborne has to offer.”
