Mayor Steele and senior staff are heading to Toronto for a municipal conference and have several meetings confirmed with provincial Ministers and Parliamentary Assistants to discuss priority projects.

The Ontario Goods Roads Association (OGRA) conference, being held from Apr. 10 to 13, 2022 at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, will be in-person. Last year’s conference was virtual due to COVID-19 and health protocols.  Port Colborne delegates attending the 2022 OGRA conference include:

  • Mayor Bill Steele
  • Scott Luey, Chief Administrative Officer
  • Gary Long, manager of strategic initiatives

The following meetings are confirmed:

  • Kelsey Hrappstead, Sr. Policy Advisor to the Minister of Francophone Affairs
  • Jim McDonell, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing
  • Hon. Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture
  • Hon. Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation
  • Randy Pettapiece, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs.
  • Amarjot Sandhu, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Infrastructure
  • Laurie Scott, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Economic Development, Trade, and Job Creation

Priority projects to be discussed include:

  • Housing affordability
  • Growth and development
  • Infrastructure
  • An Ontario Marine Strategy
  • Economy activity and the recovery of the tourism sector; and
  • Creating more serviced industrial land

Over 1000 delegates and professionals are expected to attend speeches by the provincial party leaders and Ministers, sessions and presentations, exhibitor hall, and networking events.
