VOLUNTEERS

Every successful event, program, and community initiative in Port Colborne is powered by a team of dedicated volunteers. This National Volunteer Week, the City is proud to recognize and celebrate the individuals whose energy and dedication strengthen Port Colborne’s community spirit.

From April 19 to 25, the City of Port Colborne will celebrate local volunteers across its Facebook and Instagram channels as part of National Volunteer Week, leading up to a volunteer appreciation banquet. The campaign’s 2026 theme, “Ignite Volunteerism,” highlights the enthusiasm and community pride that fuel local volunteer efforts.

Strong volunteer and community support is evident across a wide range of City of Port Colborne programming, including at the Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum and Archives, the Port Colborne Public Library, Roselawn Centre, and Arabella’s Tea Room – which is entirely volunteer-run. Volunteers also play a key role in supporting City events such as the Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival, which welcomed more than 65,000 visitors last year and was supported by over 200 volunteers.

“Events and programs in Port Colborne are made possible by our incredible community members and volunteers who generously dedicate their time and talents,” says Port Colborne Mayor William Steele. “Their community pride is essential in helping us deliver on our mission to provide an exceptional small-town experience in a big way.”
