As we prepare to hop into the Easter holiday weekend, here is what you need to know about upcoming events and holiday closures at the City:

Easter Farmers’ Market

The Downtown Port Colborne BIA is kicking-off the Farmer’s Market season with their Easter market on Thurs., Apr. 14, 2022, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Market Square, 59 Charlotte Street. There will be special treats for children and adults, and all the Easter goodies including freshly baked goods, meats, cheeses, fresh-cut flowers, and last-minute gift ideas.

Easter egg hunt

The Easter Bunny is hopping over to the Vale Health & Wellness Centre on Sat., Apr. 16. Easter events, including the Easter egg hunt, are running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for families to enjoy:

  • 10 a.m. & 12 p.m. Dena Gelentso Easter Crafts
  • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Niagara Face Painters
  • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Colouring Station
  • 11 a.m. Easter Egg Hunt (outdoors, weather permitting). Bring your own basket! Participants will need to register at the main entrance of the Vale Health & Wellness Centre by age group: one to five, six to 10, and 11-15 years old. Participants will be given a coloured card to return to the registration desk with one egg for an age-specific prize bag. In the event of inclement weather, the Easter egg hunt will move indoors to the walking track. 
  • 12 to 2 p.m. Free Skate
  • 12 to 3 p.m. Free Swim with the YMCA (pre-registration is required for a one-hour time slot). Call the YMCA at 905-835-9622.  

To accommodate these events, the walking track will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Gathering in groups carries an inherent risk of COVID-19 transmission. Holiday closures

Municipal offices, including City Hall, Roselawn Centre, and Sugarloaf Marina will be closed Fri., Apr. 15 to observe Good Friday and Mon., Apr. 18 to observe Easter Monday. The Port Colborne Public Library will be closed Fri., Apr. 15 to observe Good Friday and Mon., Apr. 18 to observe Easter Monday but will be open Sat., Apr. 16.
