City Hall Municipal Offices Closure

The City’s planned holiday closure will commence on Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, at 4:30 p.m., with City administration buildings reopening Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024 at 8:30 a.m.

Vale Health & Wellness Centre

The Vale Health & Wellness Centre holiday hours are:

  • Dec 23: 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.
  • Dec 24: 6 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Dec 25: Closed
  • Dec 26: 6 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Dec 27-30: 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.
  • Dec 31: 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Jan 1: Closed

Public Works

  • Essential City services, including but not limited to road maintenance, snow removal and water and wastewater operations will continue.
  • For Public Works emergencies after-hours, or during the holiday closures, please call 905-835-2900 and press ‘9’.

The Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum

  • As previously scheduled, is closed for the season on Dec. 20, 2023.

The Port Colborne Public Library

The library holiday hours are:

  • Dec 25, 26, 27: Closed
  • Dec 28, 29, 30: Open
  • Jan 1, 2024: Closed
  • Jan 2, 2024: Open

New Year's Eve Family Celebration:

New Year’s Eve is back at the Vale Health & Wellness Centre! Come PORTicipate with us on Dec. 31 from 2 - 6 p.m. Free family activities include swimming, skating, games, fireworks, and more. Please visit our webpage for more information and for event schedule.

FREE Public Skates:

The Vale Health & Wellness Centre will be hosting a variety of FREE Public Skates over the break for families to enjoy. Upcoming dates include:

  • December 26 – 12 to 2 p.m.
  • December 27 – 12 to 2 p.m.
  • December 28 – 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  • December 29 – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • December 31 – 2 to 5:30 p.m.

Niagara Region Services:

Transit

Niagara Region Transit, Niagara Specialized Transit and NRT OnDemand will not be operating on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1. On Dec. 24, there will be no routes after 9 p.m. 

Holiday Garbage Collection

There will be no collection on Dec. 25 (Christmas Day) or Jan. 1 (New Year's Day). Collection will be postponed by one day during those weeks. 

In the weeks following Christmas Day and New Year's Day, households may put out two extra bags or cans of garbage without a garbage tag on their regular collection day. For more information about holiday collection, visit Niagara Region online.

Christmas Tree Collection - Jan. 8 - 12

Christmas tree collection is on your regular collection day during the week of Jan. 8 - 12.

Trees must be at the curb by 7 a.m. with all ornaments and decorations removed. Trees wrapped in plastic or buried in snow will not be collected. No artificial trees.
