City Hall Municipal Offices Closure

The City’s planned holiday closure will commence on Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, at 4:30 p.m., with City administration buildings closed until Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023 at 8:30 a.m.

Vale Health & Wellness Centre

The Vale Health & Wellness Centre holiday hours are:

  • Dec. 24, and 26, 2022 – Closes at 4 p.m.
  • Dec. 25, 2022 – Closed
  • Dec. 31, 2022 – Closes at 6 p.m.
  • Jan. 1, 2023 – Closes at 4 p.m.

Public Works

  • Essential City services, including but not limited to road maintenance, snow removal and water and wastewater operations will continue.

The Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum

  • As previously scheduled, is closed for the season on Dec. 20, 2022.

The Port Colborne Public Library

The library holiday hours are:

  • Dec. 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28, 2022 - Closed
  • Dec. 29 and 30, 2022 - Open
  • Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022 - Closes at 3 p.m.
  • Jan. 1 & 2, 2023 - Closed

New Year's Eve Family Celebration:

New Year’s Eve is back at the Vale Health & Wellness Centre! Come PORTicipate with us on Dec. 31 from 2 - 6 p.m. Free family activities include swimming, skating, games, fireworks, and more. Please visit our webpage for more information and for event schedule.

The Vale Health & Wellness Centre will be hosting a variety of FREE Public Skates over the break for families to enjoy and PORTicipate in. Upcoming dates include:

Vaccination Clinics

COVID-19 vaccination clinics will be offered Dec. 28 - 29 and Jan. 3 - 7. See clinic schedule for details.

Transit

Niagara Region Transit, Niagara Specialized Transit and NRT OnDemand will not be operating on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1. On Dec. 24, there will be no routes after 9 p.m. Most last departures will be at 8 p.m.

Holiday Garbage Collection

Due to Christmas Day and New Year’s Day falling on a Sunday this year, there are no changes to the regular curbside collection schedule due to the holiday. Households may place out two extra bags or cans of garbage without a tag on their curbside collection day in their garbage collection week following Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Residents in single family homes and apartments with six units or less will be able to put out four bags of garbage. Port Colborne’s garbage week is Jan. 2-6, 2023. All materials must be at the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day. For more information about holiday collection, visit Niagara Region online.

Christmas Tree Collection - Jan. 9 - 13

Christmas tree collection is on your regular collection day during the week of Jan. 9 - 13.

Trees must be at the curb by 7 a.m. with all ornaments and decorations removed. Trees wrapped in plastic or buried in snow will not be collected. No artificial trees.
