School is officially out for summer and the first long weekend of the summer is here in Port Colborne!

Municipal offices, including City Hall, will be closed Friday, July 1, 2022, to observe Canada Day. Staff will return Monday, July 4, 2022, at 8:30 a.m.

Residents requiring our Public Works department can call 905-835-2900 and press ‘9’ to reach the after-hours dispatch. Alternatively, if it is not a public works emergency, residents can submit a service request using our online form at www.portcolborne.ca/requestaservice.

NRT OnDemand and Niagara Region Transit will not be operating on Friday, July 1.

Ways to PORTicipate this weekend:

-       Friday, July 1 – Port Colborne Farmer’s Market from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Market Square

-       Friday, July 1 - Optimist Day in the Park Canada Day Celebration at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Opening Ceremony and birthday cake at 1:45 p.m.

-       Friday, July 1, Canada Day fireworks on West Street at approximately 10 p.m. (pending weather and Seaway traffic). West Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from Charlotte Street to Sugarloaf Street.

-       July 1 & 2 – Lens and Palette Exhibit at the Roselawn Centre, 296 Fielden Avenue, from 12 to 4 p.m., featuring two local Port Colborne artists, Chris de Laat and Josh Vail, who have created an exhibit featuring local landmarks in two different mediums, photographs and paint.

-       July 1, 2, and 3 – Niagara Antique Power Association and Show 50th Anniversary Heritage Display at 1957 Wilhelm Road, gates open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

-       Sunday, July 3 – Niagara 22 Summer Games Torch Relay from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park

-       Stay cool at the Discovery Spray Pad at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park, open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

-       Launch your watercraft from our public boat launch ramp out of Sugarloaf Marina. For more information, visit www.portcolborne.ca/sugarloafmarina.

-       The Vale Health & Wellness Centre is open July 1 until 4 p.m. PORTicipate in recreation programs this weekend, including roller skating on Rink 2 and public skating on Rink 1. You can view the programming schedule at www.portcolborne.ca/arenaschedule.

-       The Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum, Heritage Village and Gift Shop is open daily, including holidays, from 12 to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.portcolborne.ca/museum.

-       Take time for tea. Arabella’s Tea Room is open daily from 2 to 4 p.m. $7 per person.
