Genius Fitness & MMA receives support through the Government of Canada-funded My Main Street, Local Business Accelerator program

Genius Fitness & MMA is pleased to be receiving a non-repayable contribution of $10,000 through the My Main Street, Local Business Accelerator program.

This contribution will allow Genius Fitness & MMA to support findings from the market research provided by My Main Street to drive economic growth and attract new customers to the business and the entire Port Colborne community.

On behalf of Genius Fitness & MMA, we would like to thank Olga Loeffen, the City of Port Colborne, and the Government of Canada through FedDev Ontario for supporting our local business.

The My Main Street, Local Business Accelerator program is delivered by the Economic Developers Council of Ontario with an overall Government of Canada investment of $23.25 million through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) to support the recovery and strength of main streets and local businesses in southern Ontario.

Owner Anthony Romero is a professional mixed martial artist who has been sharing his knowledge of MMA for over a decade. His passion for martial arts as well as teaching it started at a young age, and most evenings you can find him instructing classes for children, teens and adults in his gym at 13 Clarence Street. Pre-COVID he enjoyed being involved in several high school summer school gym classes and is hopeful to start participating again in the near future.

Genius Fitness & MMA opened its doors in November 2021 and since then, Romero’s membership has remained steady. With the help of the My Main Street program, he is expanding his location to the recently vacated home of Lock Pizza to not only accommodate the needs of his growing client list, but more importantly to continue to influence the health and well being of his community.
