On Jan. 14, 2022, 1825081 Ontario Inc. was convicted in Provincial Offences Court for failing to comply with the Ontario Fire Code and was fined a total of $3,130.00, $2,500.00 plus $630.00 in victim surcharges, in accordance with the provisions of the Fire Protection and Prevention Act. 

On May 31, 2020, Port Colborne Fire & Emergency Services attended the property at 174 Mitchell Street to assist Niagara Regional Police with securing the building as it was unsafe and a public hazard. The former owner of the property at 174 Mitchell Street was charged for failing to ensure that the vacant building was secured against unauthorized entry.
