Family skating

The City of Port Colborne is encouraging residents to get out and PORTicipate this Family Day long weekend.

Ways to get involved:

  • Vale Health & Wellness Centre
    • Free skate at the Vale Health & Wellness Centre, Friday, Feb. 17 from 12 – 2 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, from 12 – 2 p.m.
    • The arena programming schedule is also operating with the following programs throughout the long weekend:
      • Senior and adult skate
      • Open PYAP (pay as you play)
      • 50+ PAYP
      • Parents and tots
      • Standard rates and fees apply to these programs
  • Walk around the track from 6:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
  • The YMCA will be offering a variety of free family-friendly programs from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. including an open swim and family gym activities.
  • Enjoy the outdoors at our parks, trails, or green spaces. To learn more, visit our website.
  • Port Colborne Public Library
    • Check– out books, board games, DVDs, and more from the Port Colborne Public Library, Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • Families are invited to drop by to try the Library of Things. For all ages. No registration required. Free. Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
    • Enjoy Story Time with Shelly Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. and Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
    • Stop by on Saturday afternoon from 2 – 4 p.m. to create a small piece of chalk art to take home. For all ages. No registration required. Free.
    • Take the time to learn about Black History. The Port Colborne Public Library celebrates Black History Month with book displays and an online carousel of suggested books on the library’s website.
    • The Public Library is closed Feb. 20.
  • Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum
    • The buildings in our heritage village may be closed but the Museum grounds are always open for a lovely winter walk! Enjoy the fresh air and historic sites as you stroll through. Additionally, the Museum website also offers a variety of online exhibits to explore! Check out the museum’s webpage to brush up on interesting local history.

Except for the Vale Health & Wellness Centre, all city facilities are closed Monday, Feb. 20 for Family Day.
