Council Chambers

Councillors and staff will be returning to council chambers on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, for the regularly scheduled council meeting, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The public are also welcomed back to council chambers when in-person meetings resume on Tuesday, April 26. Members of the public are still encouraged to tune in from home, whether online, either live or afterwards, on our YouTube channel, or via YourTV on Cogeco channel 10 on Thursdays following council meetings at 9 a.m. Some changes will be made to the chambers to allow physical distancing for councillors, staff, and the public.

“We’re looking forward to re-connecting in council chambers, but we would also like to thank councillors, staff, and our live stream team for their work while we transitioned online to ensure city business could continue through staff reports to council,” commented Scott Luey, chief administrative officer.

Delegations to council will also return in-person on April 26. For anyone wishing to be a delegate, coordination must be made through the deputy clerk’s office by noon of the council meeting date. Delegation requests can be made by emailing deputyclerk@portcolborne.ca, calling 905-835-2900 x115, or visiting the second floor of City Hall, 66 Charlotte Street.

“On behalf of council and staff we would also like to thank the community for adapting to our online delegation process and tuning in to our council meetings, whether online or on television,” said Mayor Bill Steele. “As members of council, our job is to serve and advocate for our constituents, and despite the barriers that presented themselves, we have still been able to connect and move projects and initiatives forward that are in the best interest of our community.”

For 2022, Port Colborne’s council meetings changed to the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.  Council agenda packages are still distributed the Thursday prior to the council meeting. Residents can view the council calendar on our website and are encouraged to subscribe to receive council packages directly to their email inbox so they do not miss a report or meeting. The next regularly scheduled council meeting will be held online on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
