Reposted from the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation:

The Clarence Street Bridge (Bridge 21) in Port Colborne has reopened to vehicle and pedestrian traffic following the April 16 incident involving a vessel in the Welland Canal.

Since the incident, Seaway teams, including maintenance and engineering, have worked hard to complete repairs and carry out operational testing to ensure the bridge could be safely returned to service following the impact.

“We’re pleased to have the Clarence Street Bridge reopened and to restore this important connection for the Port Colborne community,” said Luc Boisclair, Vice President, Operations, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation. “Ensuring the bridge could be returned to service safely was our top priority, and we appreciate the patience shown by the community throughout this process.”

The bridge is now fully operational.

The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation extends its sincere thanks to the community for its patience and understanding throughout the closure.

While vessel traffic continued during this period, some delays were experienced as work was carried out. The Corporation thanks its marine partners for their cooperation and flexibility.
