During National Volunteer Week, Niagara Region Public Health would like to take the opportunity to thank the 293 volunteers who have signed up to assist with our COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

The ability to run all of our mass immunization clinics across the region would not be possible without the help of all of our incredible volunteers, between the ages of 18 and 72, who have already put in over 2,000 hours at the clinics.

Cheryl Morris is one such volunteer, who has  been spending her retirement helping out at this and other volunteer opportunities in Niagara. “The best part is getting to talk to people, and seeing some go from being a little nervous when they come in, and then leaving happy,”  said Morris.

Since the first Public Health clinic opened in Niagara Falls on Mar. 18, volunteers have been greeting clients, helping them navigate through the clinic space, and going above and beyond to help ensure the clinics are run as smoothly as possible.

“We are so grateful and honoured by all of the amazing volunteers who answered the call to support our clinics,” said Lauralee Remollino, volunteer program coordinator. “The patience, perseverance and continued support they have shown has truly been an inspiration to all of us.”

There are a number of appointments available for upcoming Public Health clinics from April 26 onwards in Niagara Falls, West Lincoln and Port Colborne. Residents turning 60 or older in 2021 (born in 1961 or earlier) can book through the provincial booking portal, as well as those 50+ with a postal code starting with ‘L2G.’

Residents 40 years of age and older are also welcome to book an appointment at one of many Niagara pharmacies providing vaccinations. Visit the Province of Ontario vaccination locations webpage for a list of pharmacies in Niagara and information on how to book an appointment.

As always, the most up-to-date and timely information about COVID-19 and Public Health vaccination efforts can be found on our vaccination webpage.
