From family activities in the park to fireworks over the canal, Port Colborne is gearing up for another memorable Canada Day celebration.

The Port Colborne Optimist Club's annual Canada Day in the Park event will take place at H.H. Knoll Lakeview Park beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1. The event will feature a craft vendor fair, giant penny sale, live entertainment, food vendors, children's activities, balloon twisters, face painting, bounce houses, train rides, birds of prey, alpacas, pony rides, a foam party, and more.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 1 p.m. with speeches, the National Anthem, and cupcakes from the City of Port Colborne.

The celebration will continue in the evening with the City's annual Canada Day fireworks display along the canal at approximately 10 p.m., subject to Seaway traffic.

The City of Port Colborne is grateful to have received funding through the Government of Canada's Celebrate Canada Program to support Canada Day celebrations in the community.

As the community celebrates Canada Day, municipal offices and some City facilities will be closed or operate on modified schedules on Wednesday, July 1.

  • Municipal offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Wednesday, July 1 in observance of Canada Day.
  • Public Works facilities will be closed on Wednesday, July 1 in observance of Canada Day.
  • The Port Colborne Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, July 1 in observance of Canada Day. Families can take part in the library's Canada-themed scavenger hunt during regular library hours from June 29 to July 4.
  • The Vale Health & Wellness Centre will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the YMCA of Niagara will operate from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Roselawn Centre will operate from 1 to 3 p.m., and the Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum from noon to 5 p.m.
