Committee of Adjustment
The Committee of Adjustment reviews planning applications for Minor Variance, Consent, and the expansion of Legal Non-Conforming uses. The City of Port Colborne Committee of Adjustment consists of 5 members appointed by Council in accordance with the Planning Act. The Committee meets to consider applications on a monthly basis. Please see the schedule below.

Committee of Adjustment Members |
Committee members serve a term concurrent with that of the Council that appointed them. The committee elects a Chair who presides at hearings, and a Secretary-Treasurer who is responsible for application processing and record keeping. The current members are:

When Do I Need to Submit My Application By? |
If you are to make an application for the Committee of Adjustment, whether it is a Minor Variance or Consent application, please ensure that your complete applications, payment, and sketch are submitted by the following dates:

Rights of Appeal
A decision on a Minor Variance or Consent (or any conditions of the consent) can be appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) but only if the objector is:
- The applicant; or
- A person who provided oral or written submissions at a Public Hearing and/or asked, in writing, to receive notice of the decision.
You must file your appeal within 20 days of the date of making/mailing a decision with the Secretary-Treasurer. Written reasons supporting your objection and payment of the OLT fee for an appeal must be included. An appeal to the OLT is a serious matter.
