The City of Port Colborne has launched a Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan with McQueen, Galloway and Associates. This Plan will identify current and future needs of residents for indoor and outdoor recreation, sport amenities and services. Spanning a 10-year horizon from 2025 to 2035, this initiative will help shape the future of community spaces and programs that will align and amplify the City’s strategic priorities.

The project will define appropriate levels of service and sustainability standards for the City’s assets and services, ensuring they meet community expectations now and into the future. A key component of this work will be extensive community consultation to confirm local values and priorities. This will guide the development of a clear, actionable plan designed to enhance quality of life for all residents.

Engagement

Community engagement will be at the heart of shaping the direction of the new Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan. To ensure the Plan reflects the needs and values of residents, a multi-phase consultation process will take  over the span of many months. This will include interviews with key partners and staff, sessions with local user groups, youth engagement activities, an online survey, and an in-person open house and pop up events at the farmer’s market.

Regular updates, reports, and opportunities to participate will be posted throughout the process.
