The City of Port Colborne offer couples a legal civil marriage ceremony presided by a legal Officiant

NOTE: A marriage licence is required before a civil marriage ceremony can be performed. For more information on obtaining a marriage licence, please visit our Marriage Licence page.

Book a civil ceremony

Please email deputyclerk@portcolborne.ca to book a civil marriage ceremony. We recommend booking the ceremony at least two weeks in advance. Include in your email to the deputy clerk:

  • Name of the applicants, email address and contact phone number.
  • Indicate if you have a marriage licence or need to apply for a licence.
 Locations and Times
 The City of Port Colborne offers Civil Marriage Ceremonies at the following 3 locations:
  • Council Chambers located on the third floor of City Hall, 66 Charlotte Street, Port Colborne
  • Roselawn Centre, 296 Fielden Avenue, Port Colborne
    • Available for an indoor or outdoor ceremony
    • Weather: for an outdoor ceremony, back up space will be provided at City Hall, Council Chambers
  • Sugarloaf Marina Pavilion, 3 Marina Drive, Port Colborne
    • Outside Location only
    • Seasonal from April to October

Times: Ceremonies are held Monday through Friday, between the hours of 10:00 am and 3 pm.

After Hours: Ceremonies can be booked on a case-by-case basis and this will be subject to availability  and additional fee. 

Booking: The location booking shall be for one (1) hour.

 Fees 
  • Council Chambers - $325.00 – Port Colborne Resident
  • Council Chambers - $650.00 – Non Resident
  • Roselawn Centre or Sugarloaf Marina Pavilion - $425.00 – Port Colborne Resident
  • Roselawn Centre or Sugarloaf Marina Pavilion - $850.00 – Non Resident

A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 must be paid prior to the ceremony to secure the date and time. The deposit is included in the fees.

Can guests attend the ceremony?

Yes. Your guests can attend your civil wedding ceremony. 

  • Council Chambers - capacity is 100 persons
  • Roselawn Centre - Presidents Room capacity: 93 persons and the Outside Gardens: 500 persons
  • Sugarloaf Marina Pavilion capacity: 224 persons

Can we bring our own flowers and decor?

Yes, small items such as a bouquet of flowers or corsage are acceptable décor during the ceremony. Items such as confetti, rice and bubbles are not permitted.

Are we allowed to take photos and videos?

 Yes, you can take pictures and videos throughout the ceremony.

Does the City Provide Witnesses?

No, you are required to provide your own witnesses. Two (2) witnesses are required. It is suggested that the witnesses be 14 years of age or older.

How do I obtain a marriage licence?

Marriage licences are obtained by appointment only, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm at City Hall. Learn how to apply for a marriage licence on our Marriage Licence page.
