On Thursday, January 30, 2025, the eastbound lane of George Street, between Erie Street and Elm Street, will be closed for water service work. Please note that the closure may extend into Friday, January 31, 2025. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we complete this essential work.

Upcoming West Street watermain construction starting January 27

Peters Construction Group will be completing the replacement of the watermain on West Street, south of Sugarloaf Street, on behalf of the City of Port Colborne. Construction is scheduled to begin on January 27, 2025, with an anticipated completion date of February 28, 2025, weather permitting.

Wignell Bridge Inspection Scheduled for January 30, 2025

Residents traveling along Lakeshore Road East are advised of potential traffic delays due to a scheduled bridge inspection at Wignell Bridge.
The inspection will take place on January 30, 2025, from 9 to 11 a.m., weather permitting.
During this time, traffic may be reduced to one lane to accommodate the work being conducted by Ellis Engineering.

Temporary Sidewalk Closure on Erie Street – January 24, 2025

Dates: Friday, January 24, 2025
Location: George Street to Charles Street (west side of Erie Street).
Details: Sidewalk will be closed for storm sewer connection.
Detour: Pedestrian traffic can use the sidewalk located on the East side of Erie Street.

On December 3, 2024, Council considered Report 2024-255 regarding the Port Colborne hospital, including a request from Niagara Health for a $6.2-million local share contribution to the South Niagara Hospital and a proposal to increase primary care services in Port Colborne.
