Ensure reservations are made prior to the day of arrival. This allows adequate time for receiving slip assignments, gate codes, and facility access. For reservations, call 905-835-6644 or email marina@portcolborne.ca.

Check-In Procedures for Transients

All transients must check in with marina staff upon arrival.

April 15 - May 15

Check in at the marina office or call 905-835-6644.
For arrivals outside office hours, make arrangements with marina staff in advance.

May 15 - September 7

During Office Hours: Check in at the marina office or call 905-835-6644.
After Office Hours (Until 7 p.m.): Check in at the fuel dock or call 289-686-5997.
Overnight (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.): Make arrangements in advance for facility and dock access. Check in at the marina office before departing in the morning.

Sugarloaf Marina is a popular destination during Port Colborne’s annual Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival, welcoming more than 100 transient boats over the festival weekend.

Due to high demand, transient slips for Canal Days are managed through a waitlist. To join the waitlist, contact the Sugarloaf Marina office at 905-835-6644 or email marina@portcolborne.ca.

Once seasonal slipholder numbers and transient slip availability are confirmed, marina staff will contact those on the waitlist no later than June 15 to confirm availability and complete reservations.

Group & Slip Requests

Marina staff will do their best to accommodate groups and special requests. However, due to the high demand for slips during Canal Days, specific slip assignments cannot be guaranteed.

Sugarloaf Marina is conveniently located at the south end of the Welland Canal. Book your stay with us for the night before your transit downbound, or for a restful sleep after a long day travelling upbound.

Downbound Transits (Port Colborne to Port Weller): Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
Upbound Transits (Port Weller to Port Colborne): Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday

Pleasure craft tolls are $200 and can be purchased through the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Cash is no longer accepted as payment for tolls at Canadian locks. Effective July 15, 2019, the St. Lawrence Seaway implemented a pleasure craft schedule for transients through the Welland Canal.

Upbound Transients from Port Weller to Port Colborne are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Downbound Transients from Port Colborne to Port Weller are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Commercial Navigation Status generally extends from late March to late December.
