Open House: Touch-a-Truck & Fire Prevention

Join us Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. to discover City vehicles up close, learn valuable fire safety tips, and enjoy exciting family activities at the Operations Centre and Firehall.

At the City's Engineering and Operations Centre (1 Killaly Street West), the touch-a-truck portion of the open house will encourage those in attendance to climb, learn and explore various trucks, vehicles and equipment that help City staff to perform their daily jobs. New this year will be demonstrations from the water department, with a hands-on chance for kids to repair a watermain. During the proceedings, Mayor William Steele will judge painted snowplow designs from local schools as part of the annual paint-a-plow initiative.

Visit the Fire Hall, 3 Killaly Street W in celebration of Fire Prevention Week (October 4-11).
