Ron Favero

Ron Favero is an inspiring Port Colborne resident, an engaged member of his church family and the Port Colborne Bocce Club, and a decorated Port Colborne Special Olympic athlete. Ron has proudly represented the Port Colborne community at both local and national events. Ron became a Special Olympic athlete at the age of 25 and has competed in soccer, track and field, bocce ball, golf, swimming, bowling, and speed skating. Over the past 39 years, Ron has represented Port Colborne at 3 Provincial Games (1985, 1989, 1991) and 3 National Games (1986, 1990, 1992), bringing home medals in each. Ron says that “meeting new people” is the best part about being a Special Olympian, and his favourite Special Olympic memory was lighting the torch at the LETR International Torch Run in September of 2024. Ron continues as a competitor and leader, passing his knowledge and experience on to the next generation of Special Olympic athletes.
