1983 Port Colborne High School Ontario Basketball Champions

The Port Colborne High School 1982-83 senior boys’ basketball team won the OFSAA “A” provincial championship. On March 19, 1983, the team captured the gold medal in Timmins, defeating Bayridge Secondary School of Kingston 64-60. The Blue Bears were led by Port High Teacher and Coach Bruce Kant, who created a culture of on-and-off-the-court success through intense daily practice, league play, and tournament competition throughout Ontario. The team was supported by Principal William Millar, Vice-Principal Mario Concessi, the Port High staff and students, Carol Kant, and many local businesses.

The team is grateful to its families, the residents of Port Colborne, Port Colborne High School, former coaches and teachers, Dave Bilodeau, and Port Colborne Youth Basketball.
