Waterfront Revitalization

Port Colborne’s waterfront is an important part of the community’s identity and future. The City is working to revitalize the waterfront through strategic investment, thoughtful planning and new opportunities for recreation, tourism and development.

The City uses a planning framework, including design principles and sustainable land use concepts, to help coordinate waterfront improvements and guide future opportunities.

Wharf Rehabilitation

The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation is leading a $45.3-million wharf rehabilitation project along Port Colborne’s waterfront.

The Government of Canada has invested $22.7 million through the National Trade Corridors Fund to support the project. The work will bring three wharves on the west side of the Welland Canal and at the south end of King Street back into service to support trade and connect Ontario to global markets.
