About the Project

The Sugarloaf area currently has a piece-meal storm sewer system that was never designed to handle the rain events we receive today. The Municipal Class Environmental Assessment is the first step towards designing a new storm sewer system to reduce the flooding of houses and the roadway.

The study will examine stormwater servicing needs and identify a preferred approach for future infrastructure. It is being completed in accordance with the Municipal Engineers Association Schedule B Class Environmental Assessment process, satisfying Phases 1 and 2.

Once complete, the City will move forward with completing a new design of the roadway which includes new storm sewers, sanitary sewers, watermains, sidewalks, curbs, and roadways.

Project Updates

The City and its consultant are currently working through the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process, which requires consultation with key parties such as residents, utilities, indigenous groups, Federal, Provincial, and Regional bodies.
