StopGap Accessibility Ramps

Do you own the property? If you do not own the property, please confirm the property owner's awareness and that they do not object the use of a StopGap ramp at your business.
Please check all those Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act recommendations that apply to your businesses. These are solely for information collection and will not impact your application.

Please follow the steps below to take your step measurements and photos.

1. Take a photo of the entire storefront.

Take a look at your storefront and envision the placement of the ramp.

You will want to place your ramp in an area where there is enough space for a person using a mobility device to make a turn to get on and off the ramp. You will need 42″ (106.68cm) of space in addition to the length of the ramp to provide a turning space that works for many mobility aids, though not all.

Take a picture of the entire storefront including the step and the sidewalk.

2. Take two photos of your step.

Measure the height of your step by using a standard imperial tape measure placed up against the step to show the measurement. The two photos should be taken 34″ (86.36cm) apart.

One on the left side. The other on the right.

Take these photos with the camera aimed straight-on and level with the step to make sure we are able to get clear and accurate measurements. Please include a small sign in the photo noting the side the measurement is being taken on.

Please estimate the height of your step and submit your measurement photos by following the instructions in the next few fields. If you experience any trouble with uploading or require assistance, please contact Customer Service, 905-835-2900.

Take a picture of the entire entrance including the step in front of the doorway and the sidewalk. For a safe turning radius, you will need 42″ (106.68cm) of space in addition to the length of the ramp (which is 6 times the height of the step).
