The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is responsible for administering the Liquor Licence and Control Act, 2019 (LLCA) and issuing Special Occasion Permits. As part of the application process to obtain your Special Occasion Permit with the AGCO, you are also required to notify the municipality of your event in writing if it is set to take place outdoors. Please note that this notification is made directly to the Licensing Clerk on behalf of the City Clerk and circulated to the Fire Department and Building Division (where applicable).
This fillable form will notify the municipality of your intent to obtain a Special Occasion Permit for your private outdoor event.
Per the AGCO, event notifications must be made 30 days before the event if fewer than 5,000 people per day are expected to attend the event, and 60 days before the event if 5,000 or more people per day are expected to attend the event.
Please note that private events held on private property or in private spaces which are not rented out to the public and where the public would not normally be, do not require an SOP or an SOP Notification Letter.
If you have questions about the event you are planning, please contact the Licensing Clerk at 905-228-8115 or LicensingClerk@portcolborne.ca
