A new online portal is making building permit applications in the City of Port Colborne easier than ever.
The portal provides an avenue for those wishing to apply for a permit online, while in-person applications will also still be accepted at City Hall.
Along with the more convenient format, the online portal allows residents to easily track their permit process from anywhere while also adding documents and drawings at any point to further speed up the review.
Both online and in-person applications will comply with the 2024 Ontario Building Code, which came into effect across all of Ontario as of April 1, 2025.
Gary Long, Port Colborne’s Director of Development and Government Relations said the portal aligns with the City’s strategic pillar of creating increased housing options.
“The new online portal is a great step in the process of making building applications more accessible and responsive for residents and builders,” said Long. “It's part of a commitment we're making to digital modernization of records and information while continuing to offer in-person assistance.”
The new portal can be accessed at Citywideportal.com, where users can create an account or login as a guest, after selecting City of Port Colborne as their municipality.
