Community Safety Day returns to Port Colborne Fire Hall on June 13

Community safety partners will unite on Saturday, June 13, at the Port Colborne Fire Hall for Community Safety Day – a free, family-friendly event focused on promoting safety awareness, emergency preparedness, and injury prevention for residents of all ages.

The City of Port Colborne is pleased to recognize FirstOntario Credit Union as the sponsor of Community Safety Day 2026. Their support helps ensure this annual event remains free and accessible for the community.

Taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3 Killaly St. W., Port Colborne Fire & Emergency Services presents Community Safety Day as an opportunity for residents to connect with local first responders and explore public safety services in a fun and approachable environment. The event will feature interactive displays, exhibits, safety demonstrations, and a range of hands-on activities led by emergency services personnel. Snacks and refreshments will be available throughout the day.

A highlight of the event is the Port Colborne Optimist Club’s Bicycle Rodeo, where children are invited to bring their bikes and helmets and participate in interactive traffic exercises and obstacle courses designed to strengthen road safety skills.

“Community Safety Day brings families together for hands-on learning in a welcoming environment,” said Port Colborne Fire Chief, Stan Double. “It fosters confidence and teamwork while also introducing youth to community-focused careers, including fire and emergency services.”

“FirstOntario Credit Union is proud to support Port Colborne’s Community Safety Day. As a community-focused credit union, we value opportunities to partner on initiatives that promote safety and well-being for young people and families,” said Joanne Battaglia, Senior Vice-President, Marketing, Communications & Community Partnerships at FirstOntario Credit Union. “Community Safety Day brings learning to life in a fun and engaging way, helping families build the knowledge and confidence to stay safe.”

A variety of community safety organizations will also be on site to share resources and answer questions throughout the event.
