Your library card gives you access to a wide variety of materials and services. Getting a library card is easy!
Borrowing
Enjoy access to our e-books, audiobooks, digital magazines, and streaming videos. Borrow books, CDs, DVDs, board games, magazines, and video games. You can search for the materials that interest you on our online catalogue.
If you have trouble reading print, we can get you materials from the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA).
For your gardening needs, check out our Seed Library, and take home the varieties that interest you.
Automatic Renewals
Starting April 1, 2026, the library will now be applying automatic renewals to regular library materials, such as books, magazines, and DVDs. What this means for you is that these items will automatically renew one day before their due date - unless that item is on hold for another user, or it has reached its maximum number of renewals.
If you receive text or email notices, an automated email or text will be sent with an updated due date if the item(s) you have out automatically renew. You can also contact the library or log into your online account to find out when your items are due.
Some reference materials and non-traditional items in the Library of Things collection may not be eligible for autorenewals.
Please note that items owned by different libraries within the Libraries in Niagara Cooperative (LiNC) system may have different loan periods and number of renewals.
Resource sharing
Libraries in the Niagara Region work together to give you access to more materials while keeping costs low. These partnerships mean thousands of extra items are available to you.
As part of the Libraries in Niagara Cooperative (LiNC), your Port Colborne Public Library card can be used at several other member libraries. You can also request items to be brought in for you (some limits apply).
We also have agreements with St. Catharines Public Library and Niagara Falls Public Library. Show your Port Colborne Public Library card and a piece of ID with your name and current address at one of their locations, and you can get a card for free. Items borrowed from these libraries must be returned to them.
