The Vale Health & Wellness Centre is a great place to walk or run on the public walking track from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., PORTicipate in one of the many drop-in arena programs, rent the ice, or join the YMCA.

The Vale Health & Wellness Centre, is a state-of-the-art facility for sport, recreation, health, wellness, entertainment, and commerce – all under one roof – the first of its kind in the Niagara region.

The 145,000 square foot venue includes two NHL-sized ice pads, a walking/jogging track for all season use, six outdoor bocce courts and, through partnership with the YMCA, an aquatic centre with lap and leisure pools, a gymnasium and fitness area.

The facility is nestled within the T.A. Lannan Sports Complex located at 550 Elizabeth Street that is home to six soccer fields, three baseball fields, a playground, outdoor fitness equipment and recreation trails that connect with the Welland Canal Multi-Use Trails.

The centre also hosts a Pro Shop for skate sharpening and a Subway restaurant are additional amenities found within the Centre.

Daily Winter Hours of Operation

Arena's (permit holders): 6 a.m. – 11 p.m.

Public Walking Track : 6:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.

*Arena's and walking track close at 4 p.m. on Statutory Holidays. Closed Christmas day.

 

Accessibility

The Vale Health & Wellness Centre is a fully accessible, barrier free facility. The Centre includes accessible seating areas, automatic doors, ramps, washrooms, change rooms and elevator.

Additionally, the YMCA pool has an accessible deck which includes a lift for patrons.

The City offers accessible programming, and hosts a sledge hockey team. Sleds are available for patrons interested in trying sledge hockey.

Arenas

The Vale Health and Wellness Centre is home to two NHL sized rinks, home to programs and events for all ages and skill level. Public skating, Senior & Adult Skating, Parents & Tots, Stick & Puck, 50+, Short Track Speed Skating and more are offered throughout the year.

Please note that all arena programs are subject to a standard 50 minute hour to allow time for a flood.

Indoor Track

The Walking Track is open for free public use at all times except for ticketed events.

  1. All ages are welcome to use this track, although children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult
  2. Participants are required to follow the indoor track directional signs posted. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, participants will follow a counter clockwise rotation and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, participants will follow a clockwise rotation.
  3. When passing, please raise your hand and look over your left shoulder before entering the lane
  4. Stretching is not permitted on the lanes of the Indoor Track
  5. Training aides such as ladders, skipping ropes, soccer balls, hockey sticks, etc. are prohibited on the indoor track
  6. Faster traffic should remain on the inside land and slower traffic on the outside lane, as a precaution
  7. No throwing or tossing items from or on the indoor track at any time
  8. Unsafe behavior on the indoor track is prohibited. Violations will result in suspension/termination of access
  9. All personal belongings are to be stored in the provided area including coats and back-packs/bags. The City of Port Colborne is not responsible for any lost or stolen items
  10. No food or drink is permitted on the indoor track. Only water is permitted and must be kept in a closed container.
  11. Shirts and closed toe shoes are require to be worn at all times.

Approx. 8 Laps = 1 Mile

Port Colborne Bocce Club

The Port Colborne Bocce Club has 5 leagues Monday through Friday from May to September. The Women's league is on Monday or Friday, the Special Olympians play on Tuesdays, the Men's League is Wednesday or Thursday and the Mixed league is Fridays.

Currently have 60 special Olympians and 366 active playing members ranging in ages from 20 to 89. We are located at the south-east corner of the complex.
