The City of Port Colborne is seeking safety conscious and dedicated individuals to join our team as a School Crossing Guard. If you enjoy working with children and the public, this may be the position for you! As a School Crossing Guard, you will be responsible for directing the safe movement of students and pedestrians across roadways in Port Colborne.

Candidates must be able to stand for long periods of time; stand and step up and down curb heights/curb cuts; safely walk with students and pedestrians across streets/roadways/busy intersections; lift and hold a school crossing sign, perform hand and arm crossing gestures; and work in hot/cold/wet weather extremes. The position entails exposure to motor vehicle traffic.

Candidates must be available on short notice and available to work flexible hours at various locations during the school term through to June 2024. The workday is scheduled in split shifts, morning, lunch hour and afternoon. All shifts are subject to changes and modification.

Successful candidates must have a high school diploma, G Driver's License and will be required to provide a valid vulnerable sector police check and medical fitness test.  

This is a part-time position with weekly hours ranging from 0 – 24 with an hourly rate of $19.80 per hour.
