We are looking for an Outreach Development Coordinator to join our Museum & Culture team at the Roselawn Centre this summer. The Outreach Development Coordinator will work with the Department of Museum, Heritage and Culture, as well as the City of Port Colborne Tourism Coordinator to research and develop an outreach program “PORTal” that will develop outreach programming at historic spots. You will develop QR codes for each historic spot and build audio and video files to provide a deeper understanding of the buildings and natural environment. You will also assist in developing a complimenting online exhibit and marketing plan for the PORTal initiative.

The ideal candidate is enrolled in a history, architecture, communications, tourism, museum studies or other applicable program. You are knowledgeable and interested in the region of Niagara and Port Colborne and have outstanding communication skills and organizational skills. You are self-motivated and able to work independently and with a group. You have basic knowledge of computer systems including word processing and simple graphic design programs.

Funding for this position is received by Summer Employment Opportunities program. Students hired by recipient organizations must meet the eligibility criteria of the program: 

  • Students must be currently enrolled in a secondary, or post-secondary institution or within six months of graduation and have reached the age of 15 upon commencement of employment.
  • Proof of student enrolment must be provided to the employer.
  • Students must be residents of Ontario during the period of employment.
  • Students must be eligible to work in Canada and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).
  • Students should be living in Ontario at the time they start work. 

This is a temporary position funded through Summer Employment Opportunities and will last through to August 30, 2024 and will be paid at a rate of $16.55 per hour, working 36.25 hours per week.
