Civil Technologist/Project Coordinator

The City of Port Colborne is seeking an energetic and dedicated individual to join our Infrastructure team as a Civil Technologist/Project Coordinator.

Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure, the Civil Technologist/Project Coordinator is responsible for designing and preparing detailed engineering drawings of Municipal Infrastructure and projects for construction purposes. The Civil Technologist/Project Coordinator uses the drawings to calculate cost estimates, using current market prices, to complete the projects, thus providing the basis for the City’s annual construction budget. This position is also responsible for the preparation and issuance of Proposals, Quotations and Tender Documents for not only construction projects, but for routine services and other major City purchases, at the request of various departments. The Civil Technologist/Project Coordinator is responsible for the creation and review of current Design and Document Standards for the Municipality.

The ideal candidate will have a 3-year College Diploma in Building, Architectural, Structural, Civil or Survey Technology or equivalent, and has achieved or is working towards achieving a C.E.T. designation from OACETT. You will have at least 5 years’ experience in municipal design, engineering and/or construction, as well as strong knowledge of engineering drawings, principles, design procedures and standards. You will have technical knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and engineering software, as well as knowledge of survey methods and procedures, basic trigonometry, and calculation. Your technical understanding should be sound in Total Station, GPS units, and you will have the ability to download and manipulate engineering data for use with CAD software.

This is a full-time, permanent unionized position working 35 hours per week. The rate of pay is $36.86 per hour, plus a competitive benefits package and pension plan.
