The Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum and L.R. Wilson Heritage Research Archives is just a block away from the southern terminus of the Welland Ship Canal. Reporting to the Archivist, the Archives Assistant provides assistance in the day to day operations of the L.R. Wilson Heritage Research Archives. This includes delivering front of house services to researchers, renters, and visitors in addition to assisting with research requests and tasks related to collections management. The assistant will be responsible for administration tasks related to rentals and revenue generation and will assist with volunteer management. The Archives Assistant will help with tasks related to the long-term development of the archives services and collections, including digitization.
The ideal candidate will at minimum have a 2-year college diploma along with 1-2 years’ experience in a related field. You have a keen interest in history, are proficient in Microsoft Office, have exceptional customer service skills and strong communication skills. Local history knowledge and an understanding of museum/archival practices is considered an asset.

This is a part-time, permanent position, working a 0-24 hours per week with a rate of $21.76 per hour.
