The City of Port Colborne, on behalf of Niagara’s South Coast Tourism Association, has an exciting opportunity for a Video Content Creator to join the Economic Development & Tourism Services team this summer. This student position requires a keen eye for design and a flair for translating creative ideas into compelling videos. Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work in a collaborative environment to plan out content creation
  • Develop and maintain a video production schedule
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute video production and editing work
  • Create short, vignette-style videos for external audiences
  • Manage all pieces of camera equipment with care
  • Keep files and recorded content organized and accessible
  • Ensure all content is compliant with copyright laws and corporate brand standards
  • Schedule and post video content to several social media accounts

Qualifications

  • Understanding of video composition and colour correction
  • Experience operating camera and video equipment and audio/video editing software (particularly Adobe products like Premiere Pro, After Effects, MOGRTS in Premiere Pro, etc.)
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Understanding of digital technologies and web and social media platforms
  • Ability to think creatively, create visual stories, and bring ideas to life
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with staff across the organization

The ideal candidate will have or is working towards having a college diploma or university degree in film, media, communications or a relevant discipline at a post-secondary institution. Experience in public relations or community engagement is an asset. This position requires a Class G Ontario Driver’s License in good standing and a reliable vehicle to use as needed for travel between work sites. The ability to attend events that occur in the evenings or on weekends may be necessary.

Funding for this position is received by the Summer Experience Program (SEP) and the successful candidate must meet the requirements and eligibility criteria of the program. 

The hourly rate for this non-unionized position is $19.00, based on 35 hours per week, for a 10-week period.
