The Tourism Communications Assistant will play an integral role in inspiring visitors to explore the hidden gems and natural offerings that make up Niagara’s south coast. In collaboration with the City's Tourism Coordinator, you will support the activities of Niagara’s South Coast Tourism Association and spread awareness to local residents from all over the region. Your duties and responsibilities will include:     

  • Working with a content management system to make frequent updates to the website
  • Evaluating website content and writing new promotional copy or content
  • Assessing the performance of the website on a regular basis and identifying ways to enhance the user experience
  • Enhancing visitor engagement through social media by developing content, posting this content and monitoring channels for questions or inquiries
  • Assisting with the planning, soliciting and writing of stories on visitor experiences for content marketing purposes
  • Supporting stakeholder needs by gathering up-to-date information
  • Collecting, organizing and maintaining data for organizational records and communications outreach
  • Contributing to special marketing or promotional projects as they come up by helping with preparation and execution
  • Providing customer service to visitors and fulfilling their requests for information

 

The ideal student for this position will have a background in Tourism, Communications, Marketing and/or Public Relations.  

Funding for this position is received by the Summer Experience Program (SEP) and the successful candidate must meet their requirements and eligibility criteria of the program: 

  • Currently enrolled in a secondary, or post-secondary institution or within six months of graduation and have reached the age of 15 and not yet reached the age of 25 upon commencement of employment or up to 29 years of age for persons with a disability, within the meaning of s.10 of the Ontario Human Rights Code, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.19, as amended from time to time.
  • Proof of student enrolment must be provided to the employer.
  • Students must be residents of Ontario during the period of employment.
  • Students must be eligible to work in Canada and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).
  • Students should be living in Ontario at the time they start work.

 

This is a seasonal summer position with an expected start date of June 21, 2021 until approximately September 3, 2021 working 35 hours per week with a rate of pay of $14.94 per hour.
