I was born in Welland on February 5, 1951 to Yvette and Leopold Doucet. My education was in the French School system in Welland. My wife, a Port Colborne native, were married on July 21, 1973 and have made Ward 2 Port Colborne our home ever since. We have 2 sons and 3 grandchildren that also make their home Ward 2 Port Colborne. My teaching career started in September 1972 in Windsor, Ontario but I returned to Port Colborne the next year. I taught for 33 years before retiring from the Niagara Catholic District School Board.
I have been involved in numerous clubs and organizations over the years. My main goal has always been to be helpful in any organization that I am or have been a member. My interest in municipal government came from this goal and the understanding that I could help my community more by taking part in the governing body of my community. I was first appointed to Council in 1989 and then ran successfully in 1991. I then was part of your council for 13 years, up until 2003.
It is truly an honour and privilege to have your trust and confidence once again. I look forward to representing you for the next 4 years. I ran for council with the idea of helping my neighbours. Please do not hesitate to e-mail or phone me with any of your concerns and I will do my best to address them as quickly as possible.
