Ward 1 is the home of 4483 Eligible Voters. Ward 1 is bounded on the East by the center line of the Welland Ship Canal; on the South by Lake Erie; on the West by the center line of the road allowance lying to the east of the Township of Wainfleet; and on the North by a line described as follows:

Commencing at a point in the center line of the Welland Ship Canal, which said point would be intersected by the production easterly of the center line of Delhi Street;

Thence westerly along the said production and along the center line of Delhi Street to a point in the center of Steele Street;

Thence southerly along the center line of Steele Street northerly limit of the Canadian National Railway right-of-way;

Thence westerly along the northerly limit of the said Railway right-of-way to a point in the said Railway right-of-way to a point in the center line of the road allowance lying immediately east of the Township of Wainfleet.

I would like to thank the residents of Ward 1 for placing their trust and confidence in me. I will, through honesty, integrity, and a willingness to listen, earn their respect. Being a representative of the people is an enormous responsibility. I accept this and will work diligently on behalf of my ward.

The City of Port Colborne finds itself in a time of transition. We are changing, growing, developing. This is a time of great hope and enthusiasm. We are seeing neighbourhoods and residents taking ownership of the desire to improve not only the City in which we live, but their lives as well. There is much work to be done, and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your voice in this time of change.

I look forward to representing all of the residents of Ward 1 in Council Chambers. It is incumbent upon me, as your elected representative, to reflect your wishes in response to matters before council. I will base my judgements on three criteria ... 1) Is it good for the residents of Ward 1?    2) Is it good for the City of Port Colborne?    3) Are we being fiscally responsible?

It is my goal to see the City of Port Colborne prosper. With that, we need new development, added and expanded retailers, and new employment opportunities. Lastly, but maybe most importantly, we need to give our youth hope and inspiration. May we, as a council, work together to see these successes in our City.

Having being first elected in 1997, I have enjoyed working for the citizens of Ward One and thank them for having elected me and putting their faith in my decisions on their behalf.

Over the past eleven years we have accomplished a lot for our great city, a new Firehall, Weir Bridge, Recreational Trails, Soccer Complex and The West Street Promenade. As well as new water, sewer and storm water improvements, new road works, improved snow removal and the operation of Nickel Beach.

Council has also been very proactive in attracting new commercial/industrial business as well as helping our existing companies with planned expansions.

But we can't stop here, Port Colborne must continue to attract clean viable industry and create an environment for not only our own industrial ratepayers but those existing companies that are looking to relocate or expand existing facilities. Our Carbohydrate Valley initiative has and will help to attract new business. Expansion along the Seaway Canal, north of Port Colborne will help open new industrial lands which in turn bring good jobs to our City.

Council will be embarking on the Humberstone Community Improvement plan in 2009 which will see vast improvements to the Main Street Business District. We will also start the Downtown BIA Business Improvement Plan to bring a new vision for our main business core.

Port Colborne is a great place to live and raise a family, which is why I support our New Community Centre which will replace our aging pool and arenas. A true community meeting place for all to enjoy.

We have so much to offer, to both residence and visitors alike, so enjoy our fine city and get involved in the many activities or organizations we are blessed with.
