Safe Communities Port Colborne
The City of Port Colborne, Ontario, became Canada's 56th designated "Safe Community" under the umbrella of Safe Communities Canada. This designation came after a year-long candidacy period during which time we established a Leadership Table, held a Priority Setting Exercise, and formed committees to address our top three injury priorities - Vehicle, Intentional Harm, and Falls.
Safe Communities Port Colborne's mandate is to work collectively across all sectors to make Port Colborne a safe place in which to live, learn, work, and play. We are striving to create a culture of health and safety for our community through engagement, partnerships, and collaboration. Rather than duplicate already existing injury prevention programs and resources, we are seeking to complement and champion current initiatives and fill gaps as required.
