Carnivals and summer go together like cotton candy and sticky fingers. Make this summer a thrilling one - step right up to the Midway Rides and Games at Canal Days. New rides being offered this year.

Located on Princess Street near the Museum, the Midway offers many favourite rides for you to share with the entire family including the Rockoplane (flipping cages), the Sizzler (Scrambler), and Dragon Wagon (roller coaster).

Younger children will love the gentler rides including the Berry-Go-Round, Moonwalk (air bounce) Kiddie Train, and the Swinger (chair swing).

So check out the Midway Rides and Games at Canal Days – it will make your hair stand on end (in a good way).

While on West Street, look for the Canal Days Ferris Wheel.

This traditional festival favourite will provide a great view of West St. and the Tall Ships for only $2.00.

Even more fun and exciting at night!

You may be surprised to discover that birds of prey are raptors. The Latin word "raptare" means to grab or seize. Eagles are called raptors because they use their feet to catch and kill their food! Owls have the best hearing of all of the birds and an eagle’s eyesight is six to eight times better than a human’s.

So many of these majestic birds only hunt at night in remote places and we don’t get to see them up close. Here’s your chance!

Check out the Niagara Skyhunters Birds of Prey exhibit at Canal Days. Running Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 am along Princess Street, parents and kids will have the opportunity to view interactive and live flying demonstrations with Falcons, Hawks, Owls, and an American Bald Eagle.

Don't forget to check out the wide variety of reptiles! Have your picture taken with birds of prey, and pet baby barn owls and other infant birds.

Each year during Canal Days, the annual downtown sidewalk sale takes place. Local merchants and retailers display their fine products in full view of the thousands of visitors to the community.

Be sure to walk the downtown streets and explore the fantastic local shops and products on sale. From jewellry to clothing, housewares to sweets, Port Colborne's downtown district features a wide variety of finery from around the world.
